We know you will have years of enjoyment with your Mi-Ki but many "new mom's or dad's " are unaware of some aspects of care for their puppy.
First we recommend EUKANUBA Puppysmall bites for your puppy's food. We have tried all other foods on the market, and always go back . We always "free feed " which means keep food available at all times, along with fresh water.
As your puppy get's older and more active, with doing a lot of playing, your little Mi-Ki puppy might get low blood sugar, so we suggest putting Dark CARO Corn Syrup ( 1 table spoon ) in your puppy's water dish to avoid low blood sugar. Usually this phase of growing last about two months, just during their fast growing period (3 to 6 mo. of age ).
Many people are unaware of trimming hair around their puppy's eyes. If neglected, the hair in the eye area, can poke the puppy's eye, and cause a ulser, and infection. We suggest you invest in a BLUNT ENDED pair of scissors.
Hold the scissors on an upward angel, as you see here to remove the hair that can irritate the puppy's eyes.
On the other side hold the scissors as you see here, and again trim the hair by the puppy's eyes.
The other problem seldom thought of by a new puppy owner is keeping the hair trimmed around the puppy's anus. Stool and accumulate, and block the puppy's anus area. Causing a blockage, and the puppy can die within a few days. If you notice you puppy just sits around, and will not get up and play, check his behind. If their is hard stool, sit him in warm water until the stool softens. Then you can remove it carefully. DON'T EVER PULL dried stool and hair. It can cause damage to the puppy's anus. To avoid this trim the hair under the tail carefully, every two weeks, or sooner if the puppy's coat is growing fast. See The Trimming Below.
Use the BLUNT ENDED Scissors. Be Very Careful Not To Cut The Puppy.
The Left Photo is the BEFORE photo, with hair blocking the anus. The fully trimmed area, with the anus completely free of hair is on the right.
WARNING: Do not allow your vet to give your Mi-Ki any shots that contain LEPTO. Many breeds as well as the Mi-Ki can have severe or even deadly reactions to LEPTO.
You can just type in Lepto Reactions in dogs into any major search engine ans read about numbersous dogs that have had reaxctions to this shot.
There have been four reported deaths in Mi-Ki's who received this shot.
